Because sometimes you just need to have a little visual stimulation, here’s a collection of photographs of street art and murals from around the world … all on the theme of books and reading. As the person who collected them notes, these murals all show traditional books … no electronic devices.

Flavorwire also has a collection of bookish murals. There are a few duplications, but these show different views. And it includes many sites not shown in the link above, including the photo of the Kansas City Public Library, which is my all-time fave, I think.

Now flip back to the first link and scroll to the bottom, to the bonus photo; which is a poster on a light pole in Dublin, Ireland. This poster is special because it contains working QR codes for free downloads of the books pictured. Yes! A project of the Dublin City Council, this street campaign (Dublin Digital Classics) was intended to get get a younger generation interested in reading.

Enjoy your weekend—maybe you can have a look at The Iliad. 🙂
