This was written a year ago, but it’s still relevant.
I remember an impassioned eulogy for the typewriter delivered years ago by one of my newspaper colleagues: how, he asked, could we write on a keyboard that made no sound? Just fine, it turned out.
And you wonder why I like her so much!

Actually, my husband collects antique and older typewriters. There is quite a lot of folks out there doing so, refurbishing and selling them for nice profits. There’s a large enough group doing that that Portland has three different repair shops that sells ribbons, parts, etc. There is something very tactile and meaningful in the click and whir of the machines that many enjoy!
