Nice lists, Jamie!
Do you think it would be useful to put together a list of books that might be useful to someone facing terminal illness…and another list for caregivers?
I do have a list of go-to movies to keep me going, though they may not be for everyone (I worked as a security contractor, and my paradigm of hope may reflect this). Here they are –
Fury
Lone Survivor
Blood Diamond
Black Hawk Down
Saving private Ryan
and just for fun, the two ‘Thor’ movies
A knuckledragger to the bloody end, I suppose. And the end is proving to be quite unpleasantly bloody.
Oh, two more, for Russell Crowe fans –
The 3:10 to Yuma (the 2007 version, of course)
Gladiator
I wonder if someone has done that already. (I’ve worked on a manuscript for someone who is a 20-year veteran volunteer for hospice, and suggested it to her, actually.) My purview here—and I hew pretty closely to it—falls into these topics: books and authors, writing and editing, words and language, and the publishing industry. On bad days I amend that to “and the train wreck that is the publishing industry.” 🙂
